First Lutheran Lenten Midweek Service

The Rev. Mark E. Swanson, pastor of First Lutheran Church, will be the guest speaker at the midweek noon-time Lenten Service at the First Lutheran Church Wednesday. The Lenten services are sponsored by the Southwestern Conference Lutherans and will be held in the Memorial Chapel which is handicap accessible. The noontime service will be followed by a soup, salad, and pie luncheon in the church parlors for a nominal fee. The luncheon is sponsored by the First Lutheran Altar Society.

Southwestern Central School BOE Meeting Today

The Southwestern Central School Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. today in the board room at 600 Hunt Road. The public is welcome to attend.

Monthly Meeting On Wednesday

The CLRAACA will have its monthly general meeting on Wednesday at the War Vets Recreation Club in Fluvanna. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day those attending are encouraged to wear green. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Those attending do not have to own an antique auto to attend – anyone with an interest in antique automobiles is welcome.

Golden Agers To Gather March 21

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the Lakewood American Legion building. A representative of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute will be the guest speaker. Reservations will be taken at the meeting for the spring lunch to be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18. All seniors are welcome to attend.

Railroaders Group To

Gather Friday

The Independent Railroaders will hold its monthly meeting at the Busti Fire Hall, 886 Mill Road, Busti, on Friday. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. This month will be a show-and-tell on individual hobby experiences in model railroading. Attendees are asked to bring any model kits they have been working on including locomotives, rolling stock and buildings, and share their techniques used in completing them.

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets in Jamestown, now has all winter clothing half price. The shop is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Off-street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street. Proceeds are used locally.
