Sheriff’s Office Warns Of Scams

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday said it has received complaints of a phone scam going around. “The caller claims to be from the “Publisher’s Clearing House” and states that the recipient has won a sum of money. They are then instructed to buy prepaid credit or gift cards and are given a number to call back. Please be advised that this is fraudulent and you did not win any money. These scams are virtually untraceable as well. Please use caution.”

Conservancy To Host Walk,

Gathering

CASSADAGA — The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will be holding a guided, leisurely snowshoe walk and campfire gathering at its Cassadaga Creek Wetland Preserve on Saturday from 4:15 to 6 p.m. Twan Leenders, CWC director of conservation, will lead the walk (weather permitting) beginning at 4:30 p.m. Non-snowshoers can remain by the campfire and socialize with other CWC staff and attendees during the walk time.
