American Legion Auxiliary Unit

To Meet On

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the post. During a recent meeting, Paula Pattison said she continues to send get well and sympathy cards as needed. Unit 1280 membership is at 78.5% paid for the year. A report was given that members of unit-made tote bags for foster children. The unit continues to work with the legion and Sons of the Legion on future activities. The Community Chili Cook-off was well attended. In conjunction with the Cassadaga Village Winterfest on Saturday and Sunday the Cassadaga Legion, along with the village, is sponsoring the Untouchables performance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Cassadaga Legion Hall, 228 Maple Ave., Cassadaga. Bubba’s Food Wagon will also be there. Sunday there will be a cornhole tournament in the legion hall at a cost of $10 per person entry. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and games begin at 1 p.m. There will be a blind draw for partners. The tournament is double elimination.

The United States Coast Guard Dunkirk Flotilla 34 will teach the Boat America Class by Zoom on Saturday and Sunday. The Boat America class is the nationally recognized course on operating boats and personal watercraft (jet skis) safely. The auxiliary is approved by New York state for its requirement for eight hours of classroom boating safety training in order to operate power boats and personal watercrafts legally on New York state waters. Students must be at least 10 years old, have a working computer with camera and an email address. Upon completing the eight-hour class, payment and exam, a U.S. Coast Guard boating certificate and wallet card will be mailed. The course will be presented on two evening dates of February 4 and 5th from 6 to 10 p.m. The full eight-hour class will also be presented on Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For questions on the class call 716-875-4095. Bemus Point Continues Speaker Series

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Historical Society Museum Guest Speaker Series continues on Wednesday as newly appointed Mayor Jeff Molnar joins us to talk about his work as mayor, village events, and an assortment of things that make Bemus Point a terrific place to live or visit. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the Bemus Point Village Hall on Alburtus Avenue. The museum will be open at 6:30 p.m. for anyone wishing to take a brief tour.

BOE Meeting

On Monday

The Bemus Point Central School Board of Education will meet Monday in the Maple Grove Jr/Sr High School cafeteria, 3980 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point. The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. and may go into executive session. The regular board meeting follows at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
