Green Comet Night At The

Martz-Kohl Observatory On Wednesday

FREWSBURG — The Martz-Kohl Observatory, 176 Robbin Hill Road, Frewsburg, will host Green Comet Night at the Observatory from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Green Comet will reach its closest approach to Earth on Wednesday. Not seen for 50,000 years, the observatory have live viewing from multiple telescopes of comet C/2022 E (ZTF) — weather permitting. Observatory officials will also discuss comets in general and view images taken at the observatory. Tours of the facility will be offered. The Martz-Kohl Observatory is located in Frewsburg with easy access from Jamestown and Warren. Dress appropriately for the weather. Classrooms are heated but the domes are not. Memorial Library

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Memorial Library welcomes a new exhibit by local artist Sarah Ritson entitled “I Hope I Have Them Right.” An opening reception will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to come meet the artist and celebrate her work. Ritson is a Jamestown-based portrait artist who works across multi mediums. Her exhibit will be on view through the month of February. The Lakewood Memorial Library is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

How To Paint Event At

Lakewood Memorial Library Scheduled For Feb 18

LAKEWOOD — Artist Debbie Penley will visit the Lakewood Memorial Library on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. to learn how to “paint with wool.” Participants will be instructed in basic two-dimensional needle felting techniques as they create a winter scene featuring a fox in the moonlight during this three-hour workshop. No experience required. All materials and light refreshments will be provided. Ages 13 and above (sharp needles will be used). Registration required as space is limited. American Legion Auxiliary To

Meet March 9

FREWSBURG — The Frewsburg American Legion Auxiliary met recently. The Quilt of Valor brought in $610. Members learned the next county auxiliary meeting is March 9. Kaitlyn Bean submitted her grades of 4 to complete her scholarship award.  The auxiliary will once again do its Basket of Cheer fundraiser, with members asked to bring in donations or cash donations before the February meeting. The next meeting will be held on February 23.
