Saturday
Chautauqua Rails to Trails will hold its postponed commemoration of the Christmas Eve Trainwreck of 1872 at 2 p.m. this Saturday. For GPS purposes, the best way to navigate is by using 7000 Fish Road, Westfield, as the destination. The Prospect Station trailhead is right across the street. After a quarter-mile group hike to the site, President Emeritus Jim Fincher will speak, and current President Bill Ward will sing a song he co-wrote about the tragic event. Light refreshments will be served, and goodie bags for the first applicants for CR2T membership will be awarded.
Church Choir To Perform Sunday
The Saints Peter and Paul/Holy Apostles Church Choir will present their Christmas Eve concert music performance Sunday, Jan. 1, preceding the mass service at 10:30 a.m. The concert was postponed from Christmas Eve due to the dangerous blizzard conditions.The concert will feature pipe organ, brass, solos and the 25 voice church choir. All are welcome to attend.
Therapy dog To Visit Library
Parents, grandparents and caregivers are invited to bring children to Hazeltine Public Library, 891 Busti-Sugar Grove Road, Jamestown, on Monday, Jan. 2, for a special storytime. Starting at 3 p.m., therapy dog JJ Puddles and his handler, Julie, will be on-site to talk about therapy dogs. Julie will explain what therapy dogs can do, how they are trained and how they are used. After the program, Julie and JJ will be at storytime and available for photos, petting and other interactions. There is no charge for the activity and it’s open to everyone. The library has limited seating so reservations are appreciated but not required. More information is available by calling the Hazeltine Library at 716-487-1281.

Season Of Hope Adoption Drive Extended
The Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, is extending its Season of Hope adoption drive to this Friday. “Before the storm started interfering with everyone’s lives last week, we had a total of 75 animals move on to their forever homes, 60 through adoption and 15 through the CCHS foster program,” said Brian Papalia, senior programs director. “This week, we are doing something special, all adoption fees will be half off in hopes that we can reach the goal of getting 100 animals.” The Humane Society lobby will be open from 1-5:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday this week.
