JCC Earned Top 10 Placement Among Best Community
Colleges In NY
Jamestown Community College has earned top 10 placement among the Best Community Colleges in New York 2023, according to Intelligent.com. The website’s scoring system, which placed JCC seventh overall, also compares each school’s admission practices, retention and graduation rates, faculty reputation, and available student resources. JCC also was ranked Best Rural Location in the website’s final assessment.
CLCS Board To Gather Dec. 21
MAYVILLE — Members of the Chautauqua Lake Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, in the secondary library at the school.
Community Blood Drive Scheduled For Thursday Dec. 22
UPMC Chautauqua will host a Community Blood Bank blood drive from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday. To schedule an appointment, call 814-456-4206. Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait time, but not required. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows. The Community Blood Bank partners with hospitals in Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York to provide blood for patients in need. Myers Memorial Library Hosting Bird Sleuth Class
FREWSBURG — The Myers Memorial Library will offer a Bird Sleuth Class beginning Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 4 p.m. The class will be taught by Molly Brown from the Cornell Cooperative Extension and will last for four weeks. Registration is required. The four classes will take place on Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25 at 4 p.m. Call the Myers Memorial Library to register at 716-569-5515. The class is for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and is free.
Ross Grange Hosts Annual Christmas Party
FALCONER — The annual Christmas party of Ross Grange was held at the Falcon’s Nest Banquet Hall. Christmas music was enjoyed by those attending as they savored a catered meal. A holiday theme enhanced the tables. A trivia game was directed by Mary Jane Griffith. “Christmas Guest” a recording by Andy Griffith was enjoyed. Readings of Christmas were shared by various members, directed by Betty Wakefield, lecturer. Included were trees, cards, Santa Claus, mistletoe, and Christmas lore. A collection was taken for Blue Star Mothers to help with postage to send packages. A check was sent for $100 from Ross Grange. A bill for supplies was submitted by Griffith. A planning meeting for 2023 will be held Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. at the home of Opal Sprague. The next regular meeting will be Jan. 9 at the Falcon’s Nest.
