Ross Grange Hosts Annual Christmas Party

FALCONER — The annual Christmas party of Ross Grange was held at the Falcon’s Nest Banquet Hall. Christmas music was enjoyed by those attending as they savored a catered meal. A holiday theme enhanced the tables. A trivia game was directed by Mary Jane Griffith. “Christmas Guest” a recording by Andy Griffith was enjoyed. Readings of Christmas were shared by various members, directed by Betty Wakefield, lecturer. Included were trees, cards, Santa Claus, mistletoe, and Christmas lore. A collection was taken for Blue Star Mothers to help with postage to send packages. A check was sent for $100 from Ross Grange. A bill for supplies was submitted by Griffith. A planning meeting for 2023 will be held Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. at the home of Opal Sprague. The next regular meeting will be Jan. 9 at the Falcon’s Nest.

Workshop Scheduled For Wednesday

Dec. 21

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Memorial Library will host a bird feeding workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 5 p.m. Learn tips and tricks for setting up a simple backyard bird-feeding station that include best bird food choices, winning presentation options and common pitfalls related to uninvited guests, bird feeder sanitation, neighbor relations and the law will be discussed. Free literature will be provided. Those attending should bring an empty one-gallon plastic water or milk jug with a screw-type cap to make a simple bird feeder. There is no charge to attend. Church To Host Living Nativity

FALCONER — Ross Mills Church, 3843 E. Ross Mills Road, Falconer, will host its Living Nativity beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, that will include a few hymns and prayers on the short journey to the pavilion. Immediately following, the church will be offering donuts, hot cider, hot cocoa, coffee and fellowship.

“Winter Rose” Cantata Set For Sunday

The “Winter Rose,” a revered Christmas cantata for voices and instruments, will be performed at Christ First United Methodist Church as part of its Advent celebration on Sunday at 10 a.m. The cantata is based on the familiar, “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” carol composed in Germany during the 15 th century. The title literally means, “A rose has sprung up.” The rose is a reference to the birth of Jesus. The church’s Chancel Choir, and several soloists, under the direction of Steven A. Woods, will perform the cantanta accompanied by Andy Schmidt on organ, Kathy O’Hagan on piano, and narration delivered by Tom Pope. All are welcome to attend.
