Improvement Vote Is Thursday

Thrift Shop Stocked For Christmas

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets in Jamestown, is stocked in all departments. There’s warm clothing for ladies, men and children, housewares and Christmas items. This week there’s a $1 rack of ladies coats and jackets, and a selection of men’s shirts for $1. The children’s department has many “like new” toys. The shop is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Off street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street. The all-volunteer staff includes many from RSVP.

Food Pantry, Clothing Closet To Open Dec. 17

KENNEDY — The Kennedy United Methodist Church food pantry and clothing closet will be open on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. until noon and Tuesday, Dec. 20, from 6-8 p.m. Community members are invited to join the church for Christmas dinner from 1-3 p.m.

Fluvanna Free Library To Hold Open House

Fluvanna Free Library, 3532 Fluvanna Ave. Ext., Jamestown, will host its annual open house on Friday, Dec. 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will include food, music and fellowship while taking time to slow down and enjoy the library’s cozy, friendly atmosphere. Lakewood Library To Host Craft Workshop

LAKEWOOD — Lakewood Memorial Library will host a craft workshop on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. Participants will create a fun and festive holiday gnome. Church To Hold “Service Of Christmas Grace”

Kiantone Congregational Church will host a “Service of Christmas Grace” at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. The service invites all to come, with particularly those in mind who have suffered setbacks, heartbreaks, and the loss of one dearly loved over the past years and find the joyous cheerful times of the holiday season difficult to engage. This year’s sermon will be delivered by Mel McGinnis on the subject of “the Empty Chair at Christmas.” In the backdrop of the decorated sanctuary, soothing carols of the season will be sung.
