Historical Society To Hear From Authors
SINCLAIRVILLE–The Valley Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the museum in Sinclairville. Final plans will be made for the History Fair. The speakers will be Dr. Bob and Anne Deming of Bear Lake. They are the authors of the books “A History of Bear Lake” and “Camp in the Woods on Bear Lake.”Anyone interested in local history is invited to attend.
September Book Club Meetings Set In Westfield
WESTFIELD –The Patterson Library in Westfield will hold several book club meetings in September. They include: Best Sellers at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 reading “Cloud Cuckoo Land” by Anthony Doerr; Literary Circle at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 reading “Miss Lonelyhearts” by Nathanael West; Mystery Book Club at 4 p.m. Sept. 21 reading “A Duty to the Dead” by Charles Todd; and Wanderlust at 4 p.m. Sept. 22 reading “Of Women and Salt” by Gabriella Garia.
Quilters’ Guild To Meet Sept. 10
WESTFIELD — The Westfield Quilters’ Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Sept. 10 at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield on the fourth floor. The program, Attic Windows, will be presented by guild member Dianne Stanton after the meeting. Bring panels and be prepared to create Attic Windows quilt. Members continue working on donation quilts to be distributed to multiple charities and groups in November.
National Grid Retirees Lunch Set For Sept. 13
DUNKIRK — The next National Grid Retirees luncheon will be at noon Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk. County Health Board Meets Sept. 15
MAYVILLE –The County Board of Health will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the HRC building, B-14, basement level conference room, 7 N. Erie St., Mayville. Comments received from the public will be accepted as communications, and not read during privilege of the floor. Public comments at the meetings during the privilege of the floor must be made in person. Podcast Workshop Set For Sept. 16
WESTFIELD — On Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. at the Patterson Library in Westfield, teens and adults ages 13 and up can join for a workshop and learn how to make their own podcast. Equipment will remain available for use in the library for those with continued interest. On Sept. 19 at 4 p.m., the group will be running a tiny food party for children ages 7 to 12. Sign up online or at the library. After Hours Hide and Seek (limited to ages 13 and up) will be happening once again on Sept. 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. September children’s programming will be wrapping up Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. with a Smash Bros tournament for ages 9 and up.
