Route 474 Work To Begin On Monday

HARMONY — The New York State Department of Transportation announced that culvert replacement work will begin on a portion of Route 474 in the town of Harmony. Beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, motorists should expect to encounter traffic reduced to a single lane on Route 474 between Blockville Road and Fairbanks Road. Alternating traffic will be controlled by a temporary signal. Work is expected to last about two weeks and could be delayed in the event of inclement weather.

Blood Drive To Be Held On Wednesday

The Community Blood Bank will hold a blood drive from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 25, at UPMC Chautauqua, 207 Foote Ave., Jamestown. Call 814-456-4206 to schedule your appointment to donate. Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait time but are not required. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows. Community Blood Bank partners with hospitals in Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York to provide blood for patients in need. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and are in good general health. Valid photo identification is required. Kennedy Free Library Hosting ‘Birds Of Prey” Presentation

KENNEDY — The Kennedy Free Library is hosting Messenger Woods Animal Sanctuary for a “Birds of Prey” presentation at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the library for their summer reading grand finale. Announces Dumpster Days

FREWSBURG — The town of Caroll has two remaining dates for Dumpster Days. Mike Walker, town highway superintendent, has contracted with local waste services to provide dumpsters. The remaining drop off dates are Sept. 10 and Oct. 8. The town’s rules of no batteries, liquids, electronic items, paints and household garbage still apply. Waste permits will be available at the town hall. For questions or for the purchase of permits for Dumpster Days, residents are encourage to contact Susan Rowley, the town clerk.

History Fair Seeks Vendors, Parade

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society is looking for craft vendors to set up during the annual History Fair on Saturday Sept. 10. A 10×10 space in the park is only $10 if reserved before Sept. 1. To reserve a space, call Tracy at 716-673-5526. The group is also looking for participants to march in the parade.
