Sherman Central School Board Meeting Mon., August 15

SHERMAN — The Sherman Central School Board of Education will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday in-person in the school’s auditorium. Members of the public are welcome to attend. It is required that all in attendance must observe social distancing. While facial coverings are not required they are recommended.

Society To Meet

This Tuesday

BLOCKVILLE — The Harmony Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the North Harmony Senior Center for a talk by Sam Genco and Karen Livsey on “Chautauqua Obscura.” Learn about the odd and very strange history of the area that many never knew happened. A potluck dinner begins at 6 p.m. Bring a dish to pass and table service. All programs are open to the public.

Blood Drive At Hillcrest Baptist Church

Community Blood Bank will be hosting a blood drive at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 1- 6 p.m. The blood inventory remains at severely low levels while the need for blood increases. All blood types are needed and there is no better time for people to donate than now. The church is located at 40 Hallock St., Jamestown.

Bluegrass Band To Perform In Busti

The Busti Gazebo Concert Series will present Denny Maze and the Misfits Saturday night. They are well known in the area for their bluegrass music.

Members of the group include Denny Maze on guitar and vocals, A J Maze on banjo and vocals, Bill Smith on mandolin, Tom Hodges on steel guitar and vocals, Ed Bennett on viola and vocals and Ken Burford on Cajon. They also feature Scott Pearson on the fiddle. The group has been entertaining in western New York and Pennsylvania and has done many shows and benefits in the area.

The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Please bring your lawn chair and relax and enjoy an evening of great music. The event is sponsored by the Busti Hamlet Development Association and the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

Education To Meet

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Board of Education will conduct its next regular meeting on Monday in the Cafeteria located at Maple Grove Jr/Sr High School, 3980 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point. From 5:30-6 p.m. will be an executive session which will be immediately followed by a regular meeting at 6 p.m. The public is welcome.
