Myers Memorial Library Art In The Park Series

Kicks Off

FREWSBURG — Myers Memorial Library is hosting a series of art classes this month at the Carroll Town Park. The first class took place Aug. 3 and was led by glass artist Jean Smith. Children ages 5 and up were able to create their own under the sea glass art on a piece of wood after searching through bins of glass for just the right piece. “It was amazing to see how creative the kids were. No two pieces of art work looked the same.”One of the staff members commented. “We started our Art in the Park series last year when people were still concerned about meeting in large groups indoors. It went so well and the pavilion at the park provides a great space for us.” Coming up they will have classes on Macreme and Painting. They will end the series on Wednesday, Aug 24 at 6:30 p.m. with an end of the Summer Reading Program Party in the park. There will be a flashlight storywalk, scavenger hunt, water balloon toss and a water relay race. During the party they will also do the drawing for our Summer Reading prizes. “Every time a kid comes to the library they get a ticket for one of the summer reading prizes. Our life size stuffed animal empires penguin has been one of the favorites but we also have a gift card to the Niagara Aquarium and a gift card to the Corner Scoop up for grabs.” The art classes are currently full, but everyone is welcome to join the library for their end of the summer reading party at the Park.
