Grant To Support Mental Health Needs

The Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene was recently awarded $150,000 to support eligible schools with their students’ mental health needs. Administered by the Office of Mental Health and developed in consultation with the New York State Education Department, the grant funds will be available between July 1 and Dec. 31. Funds are to improve access to mental health resources; support students who have experienced stress, anxiety, and/or trauma; and support the adults surrounding them.

Church To Host Rummage Sale

Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church will host a rummage sale in its Fellowship Hall, located at the corner of South Main Street and Cole Avenue. Sale dates are Friday, July 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ross Grange Meets July 11

Ross Grange will meet Monday, July 11, at the Falcon’s Nest Banquet Hall. Those attending should bring a sack lunch while beverages will be furnished. Plans are to eat at 12:30 p.m. followed by a short business meeting. The display booth for the County Fair will be arranged. Members should bring copies of family pictures, historical and/or current, as well as membership cards for various organizations families may have belonged to. The booth must be completed in Floral Hall at the Dunkirk Fairgrounds on July 17. Arrangements to get needed items and someone to check the booth each day will be planned.

United Senior Council Meets July 14

LAKEWOOD — The United Senior Council will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14, in the Lakewood American Legion Building, 174 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood. The Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers will be hosting the event. At the meeting, the group will be making plans for a picnic in August. All county seniors are welcome to attend. Country And Western Music Jam Session To Be Held On

July 31

LEON — The Leon Historical Society is hosting a country and western music jam session from 2 to 3 p.m. July 31, Aug. 28, Sept. 25 and Oct. 30 at the 1832 Church at the four corners in Leon. Those attending can perform or come to listen to the music. For more information, call Pat 716-296-5709.

Vacation Bible School Aug 1-5

KENNEDY — Clark’s Corners Community Church, 1 Gospel Lane, Kennedy, is hosting its vacation Bible school from Aug. 1-5. “ZOOMERANG” is a trip to the land down under for children ages 3 through sixth grade.
