Defensive Driving Seminar Today
FALCONER — The Falconer Rod & Gun Club, 2178.5 Buffalo St. Ext., Falconer, will host an in-person defensive driving/insurance reduction seminar Wednesday from 4 to 10 p.m. The seminar is conducted in coordination with Jamestown’s 4-Point Driving School. Wreaths Must Be Removed From Cemetery
FREWSBURG — Maple Grove Cemetery in Frewsburg will be conducting its spring cleanup. All Christmas and winter wreaths should be removed by April 15 or they will be removed and disposed of by the caretaker. Anyone with questions is asked to call the cemetery office at 716-922-4084.
Fenton History Center To Host 1950 Census Release Friday
The long-awaited release of the 1950 Census will take place Friday. The Fenton History Center will be sharing a webinar on the Census on Friday at 1 p.m. at the center, 67 Washington St. There is no charge. After the presentation, Fenton History Center staff will be available to help those who might wish to do a little research at the Hall House Library. For more information, call 716-664-6256.
Motorcycle Club Breakfast Sunday
From 8-11 a.m. on Sunday, the Brothers By Choice motorcycle club will have a breakfast at the Herman Kent Post American Legion, 26 Jackson Ave., West Ellicott. The cost is $6 per person, and the public is welcome to attend.
Valley Historical Society To Meet
SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society will hold the first meeting of 2022 on Tuesday, April 5, at the Sinclairville Fire Hall. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. and the attendees will be making maple cream. There will also be a short history on maple syrup. Everyone is asked to bring a small bowl and a spoon to stir the maple syrup into maple cream. Anyone interested in local history is invited to attend.
Christian Women Group To Meet
The Jamestown-Warren Christian Women will meet at noon Tuesday, April 12, at Praise Fellowship Church, Russell, for an Easter luncheon, trumpet music by Bob Lewis and to hear from guest speaker Deborah Labesky, Warren General Hospital diabetes and wellness educator, with the topic stress and wellness. Lunch of soup, salad, sandwiches, and dessert will be provided for $5. Brown bag items are welcome for exchange. There are no dues or membership. The group met recently for a St. Patrick’s Day luncheon with Chris and Dave Johnson on the accordion providing music, and guest speaker Tori Jordan of the Child Advocacy Center, Jamestown, speaking on the center’s mission of healing, hope, and justice for victims of child sexual abuse in Chautauqua County. Jordan, through her job experiences, got the calling from God to pursue a ministry degree to pastor to the oppressed and hurting.
