Jamestown To Turn River Green Saturday
The city of Jamestown will be holding its annual “Turn the River Green” event beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday along the Greater Jamestown Riverwalk. The city Board of Public Utilities, with assistance from a local Leprechaun, will turn the Chadakoin River green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. The event will be held along the Riverwalk and the Main Street Bridge, near the Blarney Stone. Celtic music will play, adding to the Irish festivities.
Independent Railroaders
To Meet
BUSTI — The Independent Railroaders will meet Friday at the Busti Fire Department, 866 Mill Road, Busti. This month’s presentation will be “Name that Town” and will focus on how to name locations on a model railroad to improve its operation. The presentation will be by Dave Cole. The meeting will also include more slides from the Roy Erickson collection. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7 p.m. Going forward, the IRR will continue to host meetings the third week of the month as had been done before the COVID-19 pandemic. Sherman School Board Schedules Meeting
SHERMAN – The Sherman Central School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 21. The meeting will be held in-person in the school’s auditorium. While members of the public are encouraged to attend, it is required that all in attendance must wear a facial covering and observe social distancing.
Southern Tier TEA Party General Meeting Set for March 22
The next general meeting of the Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots will be held Tuesday, March 22, at 7 p.m. at 1309 Norby Road. Dr. Ken Erickson will be featured speaking on the subject “The Top 10 Logical Fallacies That Interfere with Critical Thinking.” The issue of skyrocketing gas prices will also be addressed, including whether the issue is caused by Russia’s incursion into the Ukraine or current federal policies. There will also be updates on the 2,700 page, $1.5 trillion omnibus bill passed in Congress, the policy of Environmental Social and Governance and a local project to keep local county officials informed.
North Harmony Seniors Gather
North Harmony Senior Citizens officers met March 7. The next potluck dinner and meeting is set for 5 p.m. on Monday, March 21. At that time, a decision will be made about changing the start time to noon during winter months to avoid having to drive in the dark. Members are encouraged to attend and express their feelings about the decision. Renovation of existing restrooms is about to begin to bring them up to current requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. At the April 18 dinner and meeting, the format will change from potluck to a soup, sandwich and dessert. A sign-up sheet will circulate at the March 21 meeting. The next board, officers and general membership meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. on April 4 and is open to all members.
