Celebrates Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Mon. March 7

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library, 15 Main St., invites families to attend a program in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday to be presented by Michael Morton from Sun Dance Kids Farms on Monday, March 7, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Morton will bring live chickens and provide up close and personal experience for children to learn about eggs and chickens. The library will provide a craft kit and a snack following the program. The program is offered through the support of the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation’s Community Grants Program in support of the library’s Community Engagement Project.

No Injuries Reported In Fire

No injuries were reported in a fire that broke out at a Jamestown residence late Saturday. Firefighters were called to 166 Baker St., and upon arrival found fire pushing out of a second story window along with heavy smoke conditions. The blaze was reported shortly after 11 p.m. Crews had the fire under control within about 30 minutes. A dozen off-duty firefighters were requested to the scene to assist. Members of the Jamestown Police Department and Alstar EMS assisted as well. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon At Praise Fellowship Church, Russell Tues. March 8

The March 8 St. Patrick’s Day luncheon of Jamestown-Warren Christian Women will be held at Praise Fellowship Church, Russell, at noon with music by Dave and Chris Johnson of Warren, and guest speaker Tori Jordan of the Child Advocacy Center in Jamestown. Lunch of chicken and biscuits, soup, salad, sandwiches, and dessert will be provided by the committee. There are no dues or membership. Call Judy Crothers 814-723-7613 for a reservation by March 6.

Fenton History Center Open Mon.-Fri. Starting Mon. Feb. 28

The Fenton History Center’s Hall House Research Center will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Feb. 28. There will be a research assistant available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. While the center will be open on Wednesday there will not be a research assistant available then. Also, those visiting no longer need to make an appointment to come in.

Budget Work Session Today At 6p.m.

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will hold a budget work session today at 6 p.m. in the board room at the Administration Building of Jamestown City School District, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.
