Ellington Library To Show PBS Documentary Tuesdays

ELLINGTON — Every Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. starting Feb. 1 through March 1, the Ellington Farman Library will be showing the PBS American Experience film documentary “We Shall Remain.” The series consists of five 90-minute documentaries spanning 300 years that tell the story of pivotal moments in U.S. history from the Native American perspective. The dates for each topic are as follows. February 1: After the Mayflower; February 8: Tecumseh’s Vision; February 15: Trail of Tears; February 22: Geronimo; and March 1: Wounded Knee. The film series was made possible with a grant through the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System. The Ellington Farman Library is located on 760 Thornton Road, Ellington. Library hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed Friday and open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Masks are required of everyone upon entering the library.

Fenton History Center Holding Trivia Night At Shawbucks

Every Wednesday evening in February the Fenton History Center will host Trivia Night at Shawbucks. Teams of two to four people should register by 7 p.m. prior to each game night for a chance to win prizes. The cost is a donation. Trivia questions will cover all categories, may include some history questions, but generally will not be focused on history. The restaurant opens at 4 p.m. and games will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23. Trivia Night is sponsored by Shawbucks, Ahlstrom Shaffer and Rodgers Land Surveying.

Girl Scouts Seek Volunteers For Day Camp

The Girl Scouts of Western New York Jamestown Service Center will be hosting a new volunteer-led day camp. Horton Hill Day Camp will run July 12 to 15 for registered Girl Scouts in grades K-12. Girls in grades K-5 will work on outdoor art and eco badges along with new and traditional outdoor activities. Girls in grades 6-12 will participate in a leadership program assisting the younger girls and will earn the Service to Girl Scouting Bar. Adult volunteers are also being sought. Blood Drive Set For Feb. 4

Community Blood Bank will hold a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, at the Riverwalk Plaza in Jamestown. To schedule an appointment, call 716-450-0376. Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait time, but are not required. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows. The blood bank has struggled to keep up with the demand from local hospitals for two years. “We appreciate every person who donates. Each and every one of our donors are heroes, saving thousands of lives each year,” said Erin Tighe, community relations specialist.
