Prendergast Library Board To Meet Thursday
The James Prendergast Library board will meet at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the library’s Fireplace Room. The meeting will be a hybrid (in-person and virtual) meeting. All board meetings are open to the public. To attend virtually, email reference@prendergastlibrary.org for access.
Sherman School Board To Meet
SHERMAN — The Sherman Central School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24. The meeting will be held in-person in the school’s auditorium. While members of the public are encouraged to attend, it is required that all in attendance must wear a facial covering and observe social distancing.
Fire & Ice Event Is Feb. 10-12
CELORON — The Chautauqua Harbor Hotel will hold its Fire & Ice Celebration, with a portion of proceeds to benefit the Child Advocacy Program, from 5 to 9 p.m. Feb. 10-12. Alzheimer’s Class Is Today
The Office For Aging Services Caregiver Support Coordinator Jennifer Ellman will be presenting a class with Claire Corwin from the Alzeheimer’s Association for caregivers on Effective Communication Strategies to help you better understand the changes in communication that occur throughout the different stages of dementia and different ways to connect at each stage. The session will be today from noon to 2 p.m. at the Chautauqua Center, 107 Institute St., Second Floor Suite 220, Jamestown. Call 661-8943 to register.
Busti Planning Board Meets Fourth Wednesday Each Month
LAKEWOOD — The Busti Town Planning Board meetings will be announced by legal notice as meetings are scheduled. The town Zoning Board of Appeals will meet the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Both boards will meet at 125 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood, and on a “as needed” basis.
Snowshoe Hike Is Saturday In Cassadaga
The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will be holding a guided, leisurely snowshoe hike/cross-county ski (weather dependent) at its Cassadaga Creek Wetland Preserve on Saturday, Jan. 22, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The event is free for conservancy members, with a $5 suggested donation for non-members or $10 per family. The preserve is located on Bloomer Road off County Route 380 between Harvey Road and South Stockton-Cassadaga Road (County Route 71). GPS coordinates for the preserve are 42∂14’37.2″N 79∂18’31.0″W. Participants should note that the preserve is not accessible from the Sinclair Road/Route 60 side. Attendees are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
