Garbage Pick-Up Will Be Delayed

Due to Monday’s winter storm, garbage pick up will be delayed in the village of Falconer until Wednesday.

UPMC Chaut. Blood Drive Tues. Jan. 18

UPMC Chautauqua will host a Community Blood Bank blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday. To schedule an appointment, call Kathy at 450-0376. Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait time, but not required.  Walk-ins will be taken as space allows. The Community Blood Bank partners with hospitals in Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York to provide blood for patients in need. Commission Meeting On Tues. Jan. 18

The Jamestown Planning Commission will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18. The meeting will be streamed live, recorded and posted on the city’s website, www.jamestownny.gov.

A regular meeting of the Jamestown Board of Education will take place on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the board room of the Administration Building, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Golden Agers Meeting Jan. 18

LAKEWOOD ‒ The next meeting of Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Lakewood Legion Post 1286 with refreshments provided. Officers for the upcoming year will be installed. Those individuals 55 or older who wish to become members are encouraged to attend. The group will be discussing possible trips in the future. Anyone with questions is asked to call Sharon McCreary or Cecile Wilson.

Local Children’s Book Author

Visiting Ellington Farman Library Jan. 22

ELLINGTON — Aaron Measer, a local children’s book author born and raised in Western New York, will be visiting Ellington Farman Library on Saturday, Jan. 22, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. He will reading his new book, “My Day with Grandma.” As the oldest of 10, Measer has always understood the great role that stories play in the lives of children and now enjoys bringing his own stories and memories to life on the page. Measer has a passion for all forms of storytelling and has written screenplays, short stories and now children’s books. “My Day with Grandma” is a picture book about what happens when a young child spends the day with grandma. In addition to the story time there will be a simple craft for young children to make.
