Telephone Scam Identifies Themselves As A Medicare Employee

The town of Carroll said there is an ongoing telephone scam in which the caller identifies themselves as a Medicare employee and is seeking to upgrade Medicare cards. “Please be advised, that Medicare does not conduct any type of phone solicitation regarding your Medicare card or your Medicare account,” the town stated. “If you should get a call of this nature, please report the fraud associated with this type of call to the State Police,” Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department or to the town of Carroll Police Department and by no means provide the caller with any of your sensitive information or background data of any kind. Medicare does not call their recipients via telephone and that should serve as a clear warning that something is amiss and should subsequently reported to the proper authorities.

School Board Of Education Meet On Mon. Jan. 10

The Bemus Point Central School Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria at Maple Grove Junior-Senior High School, Dutch Hollow Road, Ellery. The public is welcome to attend.

Urban Renewal Agency Annual Meeting Wed. Jan. 12

The Jamestown Urban Renewal Agency’s annual meeting will take place Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Mayor’s Conference Room on the fourth floor of the Jamestown Municipal Building. The public is welcome to attend.

Central School Board Meet Wed. Jan. 12

RANDOLPH — The Randolph Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in the high school. Small Business Development Thurs. Jan. 13

The next Small Business Development Center Women In Networking program will take place Thursday, Jan. 13, at noon with speaker Taylor Scott, who will discuss technology tips for small businesses. Scott is a real estate agent with ERA/Team VP and serves on the board of the Chautauqua County Land Bank and YWCA. She is also an affiliate marketing influencer. Scott has a demonstrated history of working in the events services industry. She is skilled in software integration and automation, search engine optimization, sales, event management, marketing and marketing strategy, all operating from a place of community.
