Lake Association Meets Tonight

LAKEWOOD — The annual meeting of the Chautauqua Lake Association will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, at Bellinger Hall at Chautauqua Institution. There will be a review of 2020 activities. Guest speakers will be Jay Kuntz and Chris Flanders from the Bemus Point-Stow Ferry board. The topic will be “Today and Tomorrow, Bemus Point-Stow Ferry.” Dinner will also be provided. The public is invited to attend. Advance reservations are required by today. Please call 763-8602 to reserve your seat. To date, the CLA has removed over 4,750 tons of vegetation and debris from Chautauqua Lake.

Soil, Water Conservation Board Meets

BEMUS POINT — Regular meetings of the Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors are held the third Wednesday of each month at the Bemus Point United Methodist Church located at 4954 Bemus-Ellery Road No. 9739, Bemus Point. The next meeting is to be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. Contact the Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District by phone (664-2351 ext. 102) or email (Chaut-Co@soilwater.org) if interested in attending so that attendance numbers can be recorded and to be provided with COVID-19 safety protocol meeting guidelines, the room location and parking instructions.

Fredonia Cub Scout Pack Open House Is Sept. 14

Fredonia Cub Scout Pack 267 invites all interested families with children entering kindergarten through fifth grade to attend an open house Pack Meeting on Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. in the lower pavilion of Russell Joy Park. Families will have the opportunity to meet Den Leaders and get information about the upcoming scouting year. All children who attend will be able to participate in planned activities. Please email leslieamwille@gmail.com with any questions. COVID-19 precautions will be observed in accordance with CDC recommendations at the time of the event.

Salamanca School Board Meets Tuesday

SALAMANCA — Members of the Salamanca City Central School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the large group instruction room. The meeting will also be held via ZOOM and Facebook Live.

Native Plant Sale This Saturday

On Saturday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy and Chautauqua Marina, 104 West Lake Road, Mayville, will be offering a native plant sale, with proceeds benefiting the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy and Chautauqua Lake. A variety of native plants will be available for sale from Royal Fern Nursery, Amanda’s Garden, Hickory Hurst Farm and Turnbull Nursery. Admission is free, and the event will be held rain or shine. Masks will be required if indoors. Guided educational lakeside buffer walks will also be offered, weather permitting.

JCC Trustees Meet Tuesday

The next meeting of the Jamestown Community College Board of Trustees will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. via videoconference between the boardrooms on the Jamestown Campus, Cattaraugus County Campus in Olean and the North County Extension Center in Dunkirk. Due to COVID concerns, attendees must register to attend the meeting with Marsha Hern at 338-1060 or marshahern@mail.sunyjcc.edu.
