Car Show Set For Thursday

The Herman Kent Post Legion will be hosting a car show from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. There will be door prizes for entrants, and the kitchen will be open for wings and things. The public is welcome to attend.

Rotary Club Still Taking Teams For Golf Tourney

The noon Jamestown Rotary Club is still accepting team registrations for the 26th annual charity golf classic at MoonBrook Country Club. This year’s event is on Monday, Aug. 30 with a choice between a scramble or best ball format. Spaghetti Dinner Set For Saturday

The Marco Polo Club will be holding an indoor sit-down, in-club, spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14. If COVID vaccinated, diners need not wear masks. If unvaccinated, diners are requested to wear masks whenever they are not actively eating or drinking. Dinners are $10 for adults and $5. for children. Take-out dinners will be available.

Gazebo Concert To Be Held

BUSTI — The Busti Gazebo Concert series returns from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday with music by Holly. Those who attend are asked to bring their own lawn chairs. The event is sponsored by the Busti Hamlet Development Association.

Fluvanna Library Sets Presentation

On Saturday at 11 a.m., the Fluvanna Free Library will present “Joseph Ellicott, the Great Surveyor.” The program focuses on the life of the man who was the principle surveyor and resident land agent for the Holland Land Company as seen through the eyes of his sister, Rachel Evans. Presenting the program will be Tina Scherman, a local storyteller, naturalist and volunteer for the Leon Historical Society. Quilters’ Guild To Meet Saturday

In Westfield

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Quilters’ Guild meeting will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Westfield YWCA. The meeting features guest speaker, Cathie Biggs, an actress, writer, director, quilter and retired Marine. Her quilts are featured on the cover of Primitive Quilts and Projects in the spring 2016 and fall 2017 editions. Biggs will discuss challenges she has encountered quilting and also discuss quilting tips and techniques. The cost is $5 for non-members. Lunch and an open sew will follow Biggs’ program.
