Women’s Club To Hold Dinner

The Norden Women’s Club will hold a member-guest dinner on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel. Social time will be at 6 p.m., with the dinner at 6:30 p.m. Mike Johnson will present the program speaking on the History of the Jamestown Airport. Reservations are due by Monday, Aug. 9, by calling Dottie Larson at 665-7888 or Diane Wellman at 664-5145.

Historical Society Sets Quilt Show

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society will hold its annual quilt show at the museum in Sinclairville on Saturday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. In addition to local quilters, there will be a display of prints from the Biza Butler Collection from the Chicago Art Institute. Anyone interested in displaying a quilt can call Betty Jean Ridout at 962-2309. There is no admission charge for the show. Everyone is welcome to attend. Meanwhile, the August meeting of the society will be Tuesday Aug. 3, at 6 p.m. in the Sinclairville ballpark pavilion. This is the annual picnic meeting and all those attending should bring a dish of food to pass and their own drink and table setting. The group will eat at 6 p.m. sharp, so everyone should arrive a little early. The program for the evening is Treasure Trove.

Rural Ministry To Hold Fundraiser

The Chautauqua County Rural Ministry will be holding its annual fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7. The Book Shop is having an outdoor book sale. Romance novels are available six for $1, children’s books are available six for $1 and cookbooks are available six for $1. Muriel’s Closet will be open as well, and the fundraiser will also feature a chicken barbecue and outdoor yard sale.

Dog Days Of Summer Event Is Planned

Jamestown C&MA Church is hosting a free Dog Days of Summer event on its front lawn on Sunday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those attending can bring their dogs, children and have a fun day of snacks for both humans and dog and activities for everyone. There will be a children’s craft, live music, hot dogs, puppy chow, homemade dog treats, events for dogs, bingo and more. There is also a photo contest on the church’ss Facebook page (Jamestown Alliance Church). Submit a favorite photo of your dog to the page and the church will put it in an online album.. Voting will begin on Aug. 1. Winners will be announced at the event. This event is free and open to the public.

August Dumpster Day Change Set

FREWSBURG — The town of Carroll will be moving its August Dumpster Day to Aug. 21 so it doesn’t conflict with the “Bash in the Burg” Country Music Festival starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14.

Christ First UMC To Host VBS

Christ First United Methodist Church will hold an outdoor vacation Bible school from Aug. 9-13 from 9 a.m. to noon at the church, 663 Lakeview Ave., Jamestown. The event includes a week of water-themed stories, videos, music, snacks and games relating to stories in the Bible. Vacation Bible school is designed for children ages 4 to 12. To register, call 664-5803 to register.
