JPS Kindergarten Registration Set

Jamestown Public Schools will register kindergarteners for the 2021-22 school year by appointment on Thursday, May 6, at the district administration offices located at 197 Martin Road. Any child who resides in the city of Jamestown and who will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2021, is eligible to attend kindergarten in our district this fall. Those with a child not currently enrolled in a Jamestown Public Schools UPK program and will be of kindergarten age is asked to contact JPS central registration Office at 483-4344 with any questions and to schedule an appointment. Registration information and forms will be mailed to families once an appointment is scheduled. This registration day is only for students who are new to the Jamestown Public Schools. This registration is not for students who are currently enrolled in UPK programs at any Jamestown Public School UPK site, including Head Start at Bush Elementary School, Holy Family, A Children’s Place, YMCA, or YWCA. Scientist To Speak At Martz

The Martz-Kohl Observatory will welcome Dr. Robin Elgart, space radiation element scientist with NASA’s Human Research Program, as a guest speaker at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday where she will provide an overview of the space radiation environments, the associated human health risks, and how the space radiation element is actively pursuing a data-driven tactical approach to space radiation protection that is responsive to agency objectives and enables deep space exploration. Her mission is to characterize and facilitate the management of the human health outcomes associated with space radiation exposure to protect astronaut health and wellbeing, and enable human spaceflight. The public is welcome to attend this free presentation via ZOOM. Information and a link to join the ZOOM speaking event is located at martzobservatory.org/zoom/. The presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. with “virtual” doors to the event opening at 7:15 p.m. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Martz-Kohl Observatory remains closed to the public.

School Board To Meet Monday

PANAMA — The Panama Central School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria. The public is invited to view the meeting virtually by visiting pancent.org for a link.

County IDA To Meet March 23

Members of the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency Board of Directors will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, and held electronically. Members of the public may view the meeting by visiting YouTube and searching “County of Chautauqua IDA.” Once on the webpage, viewers can click on “videos” to watch the live stream.

4-H Panel Sets Spaghetti Dinner

The sixth annual spaghetti dinner sponsored by the 4-H Livestock Committee will be held from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds 4-H Snack Shack. The event will be drive-through only. The cost is $8 presale, $10 at the gate and $5 for ages 7 and under. Tickets are available at the Cattaraugus County 4-H office.
