Kindergarten, UPK Signups Are Underway

SINCLAIRVILLE — Enrollment is currently underway for Cassadaga Valley Central School’s 2021-22 kindergarten and universal pre-kindergarten programs at Sinclairville Elementary School. The UPK program is available to children who will be four years old on or before Dec. 1, 2021. Parents/guardians of children who meet this age requirement should have received the enrollment forms in the mail. There are no income eligibility restrictions for families residing within the school district. To request more information and enrollment forms, contact the Sinclairville Elementary School Office at 962-5195 ext. 2400.

Book Sale To Aid County Literacy Volunteers

FREDONIA — Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County was given more than 8,000 books that have now been sorted and are ready to be sold from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 15, 16 and 17. Because of the number of books, the sale will be held at 4595 West Main Road, Route 20, Fredonia. Book topics include: historical, political, educational, biographies, finance, spiritual, poetry, music, fiction, reference, audio, record albums and more. There are some new books, used books and some vintage books. Hardcover books are $1 each or six for $5 and 50 cents for a paperback or 12 paperbacks for $5. On April 17, an armload of books will cost $10, a bag full of books will cost $15 and a box full will cost $20. All proceeds benefit Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County.

Shred-It Event Set For April 3

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a shred-it event on Saturday, April 3, from 10 a.m. until noon in the hospital parking lot. The cost is $10 per container. A container is anything that can be handled. As COVID-19 numbers fall and the number of vaccinations increases, the auxiliary starting to hold some of its fund raisers. To participate drive through the hospital parking lot. Someone will remove the items and people can pay from their vehicle.

Take-Out Dinner Held April 10

FREWSBURG — The Frewsburg Lions and Leo Clubs will be hosting a take-out barbecue chicken dinner April 10 from 5-7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 45 Falconer St. in Frewsburg. Meals are prepared by Three C’s catering and will include a half chicken, baked beans, roll, macaroni salad and a cookie or a brownie for $12.50. All proceeds will benefit local needs. PennDOT Survey Is Available

HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking the public’s feedback on winter services through an online survey found at www.surveymonkey.com/r/PDWinter2021.The survey is available through April 6 and should take about five minutes to complete. All responses are completely anonymous. The 12-question survey asks respondents about their timeline expectations for safe and passable roads, how they rank snow-removal priorities and how they rate PennDOT’s winter services. At any time, motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com.

511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website. As construction season begins, information on projects occurring or being bid this year is viewable at www.projects.PennDOT.gov. Visit the “Regional Offices” page at www.PennDOT.gov to sign up for travel alerts in a specific area.
