CVCS Board To Meet Wednesday

The Cassadaga Valley Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the middle-high school multi-purpose room. Social distancing will be enforced. The sole purpose of the meeting is to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation process.

Mobile Pantry Truck In Ashville

ASHVILLE — The Food Bank of Western New York Mobile Pantry Truck from Falconer will be at the Ashville United Methodist Church today from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m. The truck brings fresh produce and some staple items. To receive free food, only proof of address from the following ZIP codes is required: Ashville 14710, Bemus Point 14712, Celoron 14720, Lakewood 14750, Niobe 14758, Panama 14767, Stow 14785 and anyone who lives in the town of Busti. Wear a face mask and keep six feet of distance while in line. The food will be pre-boxed. A volunteer will sign people in and take their box to their car. City Blaze Still Under Probe

The cause of a fire that broke out Sunday afternoon at a Jamestown home remains under investigation. Crews were alerted to the blaze around 12:15 p.m. at 114 King St.; officers with the Jamestown Police Department arrived and stated that flames were shooting from the rear of the structure. The occupants, along with a dog, managed to get out prior to the arrival of firefighters. Two cats did perish in the fire. Smoke could be seen coming from an attic window. Firefighters remained on scene until about 5:30 p.m. According to fire officials, the property is not habitable due to damage it sustained in the blaze.

Take-Out Meals Offered Thursday

The Marvin House in Jamestown is offering take-out meals Thursday between 3-4 p.m. that will include salad, homestyle chili, cornbread and peanut butter pie. Reservation for dinners can be made by sending an email to marvinhouse@netsync.net or calling 488-6206. The cost is $17 for members and $20 for non-members.

Westfield Dems Hold Caucus

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Democratic Committee held its Democratic Caucus to nominate candidates to fill positions in village government on Jan. 21. The current mayor, Michael VandeVelde, was nominated to serve another two-year term. Jeffrey Thomas was nominated for another four-year term as village justice. Candidates for the two open seats on the Village Board of Trustees are Joshua Freifeld and Judith Einach. Trustee terms are also two-year terms. All four candidates are running in uncontested races. The Westfield village election will be held on March 16.

Planning Board To Meet Feb. 2

The Chautauqua County Planning Board’s monthly meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, via videoconferencing, as permitted by the state Open Meetings Law.
