The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities said it received reports Thursday of a person posing as a BPU employee stopping at residences, threatening to turn off utilities if the customer doesn’t pay the person right then at the door. “Please be advised that the BPU does not send employees to residences demanding payment,” the BPU said. “Further, BPU field workers wear BPU issued-uniforms and carry BPU picture identification. We hope that our customers will not fall victim to this latest scam.”
