City BPU Offices Will Be Closed On Monday

Jamestown Board of Public Utilities offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The customer service office will reopen for business at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Garbage and recycling will be picked up on its regular weekly schedule with no collection changes. Customers who need to pay bills on the holiday can pay online at www.jamestownbpu.com on “My Account” on the home page. Payments also may be made at 661-1660, ext. 3. Customers may leave checks or money orders (no cash) after hours in drop-off boxes located in the BPU Customer Service Office parking lot down the D driveway, 92 Steele St.; outside City Hall on Tracy Plaza; and inside the vestibule of the Jamestown Police Department entrance on Second Street.

Borrello Appointed To Senate Committees

ALBANY — State Sen. George Borrello, R-Sunset Bay, has been appointed as the ranking member of three Senate committees, Agriculture, Banks and the newly-created Procurement and Contracts. He expressed enthusiasm for his expanded responsibilities and affirmed his commitment to effect positive policy changes in these areas. “New York state is at a critical juncture as both employers and residents grapple with the economic fallout of the pandemic. My role as Ranking Member on these three very different but critically important committees will give me the opportunity to work on and advocate for policies that will help revitalize our agriculture and financial services sectors as well as improve the accountability of our state contracts at this time of limited resources,” Borrello said. “There are also a host of issues beyond pandemic recovery that must be addressed, setting the stage for a very busy legislative session.” Borrello was also named as a member of several additional committees. He received new appointments to the Finance and Aging committees and reappointments to the Local Government and Internet and Technology committees.

172 Elected Offices Are Open In Nov. Election

MAYVILLE — There are 172 elected offices up for election in the Nov. 2 general election. Chautauqua County Democratic Committee Chair Norman P. Green said the party is looking for candidates to run. “Particularly I am looking for candidates to run for County Executive, County Clerk and in fourteen of the nineteen County Legislature districts,” Green said. “The first day to circulate Democratic designating petitions is Tuesday Feb. 23.” For more information, email Green at chqdem@gmail.com or call 499-9628. Marvin House Offering Take-Out Meals

The Marvin House in Jamestown is offering a take-out meals Thursday between 3-4 p.m. that will include cream Italian chicken, broccoli and cheese soup, rice pilaf, fresh vegetable and cake. Reservation for dinners can be made by sending an email to marvinhouse@netsync.net or calling 488-6206. The cost is $17 for members and $20 for non-members.
