Committee Looking For Candidates

The Jamestown Democratic Committee is currently looking for candidates for the 2021 election season to fill spots for the City Council and Chautauqua County Legislature. Mayor Eddie Sundquist, along with current council members Tamu Graham-Reinhardt and Tom Nelson, will be hosting a virtual candidate recruitment meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. The virtual session will discuss how to run for office, successes and challenges, and fundraising for political campaigns. Those interested are asked to send an email to info@jamestowndems.org for a link to the Zoom session or to express interest in running for office.

First Covenant Church Is Closed Temporarily

Due to COVID-19, First Covenant Church, 520 Spring St., Jamestown, is temporarily closed. The church hopes to reopen on Jan. 24.

Women’s Club Cancels February Meeting

The Norden Women’s Club has canceled its meeting and lunch scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6, due to COVID-19. The next scheduled meeting will be held Friday, May 7.

Library Trustees Set To Meet Thursday

LAKEWOOD — The trustees of the Lakewood Memorial Library will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Information regarding online access to the meeting may be found on the library’s web site.

SWCS Board Meeting Set Tuesday

The Southwestern Central School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school multi-purpose room. Those who wish to attend are asked to call the district clerk at 484-1137 or psagurney@swcsk12.org to make arrangements by 6 p.m. the day of the meeting.

Land Bank Panel To Convene

Members of the Chautauqua County Land Bank Corp. will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, via Zoom. The public is welcome to attend; to register, send an email to gparadis@chautauqualandbank.org for the link and password. A recording of the meeting will be available afterward. The monthly meetings of the CCLBC are conducted to discuss business associated with the acquisition and potential sale of property by CCLBC and other official business as required (agendas will be provided at the meetings).

CASA Training Starts Jan. 19

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Chautauqua County will host its 2021 volunteer training starting Tuesday, Jan. 19. Physically distanced and virtual training options available.
