Pair Helped From Vehicle

Volunteer firefighters in Cattaraugus County helped two people get out of their vehicle that had overturned and was partially submerged in water following a crash over the weekend. The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office detailed the incident, which occurred at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday on Route 62 in Conewango. Deputies found the vehicle on its side in a ditch while also partially in water. Two people, who were not identified, were assisted out of the vehicle with the assistance of the Conewango Fire Department. They were evaluated by Randolph Regional EMS.

23 Days Of Christmas Giveaways

The Los Contrincantes Car Club and Bike Crew of Jamestown has completed 23 straight days of Christmas giveaways by donating gifts to families throughout the city. “We would like to thank our entire community for believing in us and all of our members for making this possible,” said club president Jose Sanchez. “We were able to donate gifts to more the 50 families. This is something we do every year and we are not trying to be known, we are trying to make a difference. The children in our community are the future. Hopefully they will learn to give back without expecting anything in return. We are grateful to be able to help family’s especially in this time of need. Some of these families were not expecting anything for Christmas because of the situation but we came delivered and were able to put a smile on their face defeating the outcome of the pandemic.”

Virtual Open House Set

A virtual open house will be held by the State University of New York at Fredonia School of Music and Office of Admissions on Zoom on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., for prospective students and their families. Attendees will be able to watch a mock audition, obtain information about degree programs, tuition and scholarships, ask questions and learn more about the school from current music students. It will be an informative and enjoyable time, said School of Music Assistant Director Barry Kilpatrick. Postal Service Facilities Closed For Holiday Fri.

Postal Service facilities will be closed for retail transactions on Friday in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. There will be no regular mail delivery and no mail collection runs conducted throughout Buffalo, Rochester and the Western New York District, which encompasses NY ZIP Code areas: 140-148. Although, there will not be regular mail delivery on the New Year’s Day holiday, Priority Mail Express is delivered 365 days a year and will be delivered on Friday. Normal delivery and collection schedules will resume Saturday.

Mayville Village Board Moves Location

MAYVILLE — The Mayville Village Board of Trustees meeting will be held at the gym at the Town of Chautauqua building, 2 Academy Street Mayville (the old Mayville school) on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m., which is the same time as regular meeting.
