New Directions Receives Grant

New Directions’ Randolph Residential Campus has received a $5,500 grant from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation’s Edwin L. Danielson Community Service Fund. Grant funding was used to commission a pool study to assess and determine the full extent of repairs and renovations needed to the indoor swimming pool. Built in 1967, the pool has been essentially self-sustaining, requiring routine care and maintenance and reasonably anticipated repairs. The pool has been closed since 2018. A full assessment was needed as a first step in determining how to get the pool back in operation and plan for costs associated with the renovation process. New Directions’ indoor pool is an essential component of the recreation program. It is where numerous children on the Randolph Residential Campus and, in years past, the Randolph community, learned to swim. The pool is typically used year-round. Notably, youth have obtained lifeguard certifications, a skill that leads to employment.
