Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Watch

The region could see a foot or more of snow in some locations in the next few days. The National Weather Service in Buffalo issued a winter storm watch for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and southern Erie counties that is expected to see “heavy, wet snow possible.” The watch is in effect from late Monday night through Wednesday afternoon, the weather service said. “Travel could become very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes for both Tuesday and Wednesday. … Begin needed preparations at home or with your vehicle. Travel may become difficult, so plan accordingly.”

Planning Board To Meet Tuesday

Members of the Chautauqua County Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The meeting will be held via videoconferencing and can be viewed at https://zoom.us/j/94913368916.

Community Bank Closes All Branch Lobbies

Community Bank has closed all branch lobbies and will operate solely through available drive-throughs. The lobby closure started Wednesday. All branch lobbies will be available by appointment only, including locations with and without drive-throughs. “We believe this decision is both conservative and prudent considering the current information the CDC has provided about COVID-19” Hal Wentworth, Community Bank N.A. senior vice president for retail banking said. “We appreciate our customers’ continued support and understanding in this difficult time of uncertainty. Together, we can all do our part to help protect our local communities.”

Soil And Water Conservation Board To Meet

The Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District board will meet at noon Wednesday, Dec. 16. The meeting location is to be determined. Call 664-2351, ext. 102 to provide contact information to attend. The Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District’s secretary will follow up to provide the meeting location as soon as it is determined. The public is invited to attend.

5-Hour Course To Be Offered Through Zoom

A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be offered via Zoom through Frewsburg High School on Monday, Dec. 7, from 5-10 p.m. The cost is $25. Preregister by emailing rhair@frewsburgcsd.org or calling 569-7026 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. When calling, have a permit on hand.

Blood Drive To Be Held Today

The Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at UPMC Chautauqua WCA, 207 Foote Ave., Jamestown. The Community Blood Bank has implemented precautionary measures that include all donors and staff members being required to wear masks, temperatures of all personnel at the blood collection location being taken prior to entering the blood drive, extra sanitation measures taken in between every donor and donors are to adhere to social distancing protocols.
