Nominations Sought For JCC Alumni Award

Nominations are sought for the 2021 Distinguished Alumnus Award given by the Jamestown Community College alumni associations at the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses. Since 1980, the alumni associations have presented accomplished alumni with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, the association’s highest honor. The award is given to those who typify JCC’s tradition of excellence and bring credit to the college through personal accomplishment, professional achievement, or humanitarian service. Nominees must be graduates of JCC. Nominations are reviewed by the Alumni Association board of directors for both the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses. Awards will be presented at the 2021 commencement ceremonies. The nomination form is available at sunyjcc.edu/alumni. Nominations are due by March 1.

Golden Agers To Enjoy Harvest Dinner Event

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers will enjoy a Harvest dinner at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Lakewood American Legion. Plans will be made to have a Christmas celebration at the Dec. 15 meeting starting at 1 p.m. At the October meeting, members who had been knitting hats, gloves and scarves brought in 720 items to be distributed to students at several local schools. The Legion Auxiliary is looking for donations for some needy families in the area. Items needed are non-perishable food products and socks and underwear (ages 2-12). Unwrapped toys for ages 2-12 would also be appreciated. Cash donations would also be helpful. These items should be brought to the November meeting.

Southwestern School Board To Meet Tuesday

The Southwestern Central School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school multi-purpose room. Those wishing to attend are asked to contact the district clerk at 484-1137 or through email at psagurney@swcsk12.org by 6 p.m. the day of the meeting.

Craft Show Will Not Be Held Due To COVID

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the annual craft show held by the Chautauqua County Society of Artists in November, and the annual Christmas Dinner, will not be held this year. The group anticipates resuming meetings beginning in March 2021. Further notice of the monthly meetings will be given after the beginning of 2021.

Library Board Of Trustees Set To Meet Thursday

LAKEWOOD — The board of trustees of the Lakewood Memorial Library will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12. The meeting will be held via Zoom. For information on how to access the meeting, visit lakewoodlibrary.org.

Veterans Day Dinner Nov. 11

To honor all veterans, AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 726 will be serving a rigatoni with meat sauce dinner on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at the ILS Veterans Club, 364 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, from 2-5 p.m. The dinner includes salad, bread and dessert. Non-veterans may get a dinner for a $7 donation. The dinners may be eaten in the dining room or can be packaged to go.
