Railroad To Hold ‘Birthday Train’ Ride Saturday

The New York & Lake Erie Railroad is kicking off the season with a special “Birthday Train” on Saturday. Two train rides are scheduled departing at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. from Gowanda traveling to South Dayton. The station is located at 50 Commercial St., one-quarter mile east of Route 62 in Gowanda. The scenic train ride will be 2.5-hour round trip including a layover at the village of South Dayton where passengers may get off the train. Tickets are available at nylerailroad.com. Fares are $19 for adults, $17 for senior citizens (62 and older), and $15 for children ages 3 to 12. Lapsters (2 and under) may ride free. The ticket window is located at the train station and will be open at 10 a.m. Saturday. Passengers are asked to print off their tickets and bring the tickets with them for the trip.

Historical Society Halts Meetings

VFW To Hold Barbecue

The Cherry Creek VFW will be holding a Chiavetta’s Barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 24, starting at noon. Dinners are $11 each and can be preordered by calling 988-3015. The post is located at 7165 Route 83.

CVCS Board To Meet Today

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cassadaga Valley Central School District Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting today at 7 p.m. in the Middle-High School multi-purpose room. Social distancing will be enforced. The public is welcome to attend.

Ripley School Board To Hold Thurs. Meeting

RIPLEY — The Ripley Central School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Ripley Central School cafeteria. Social distancing will be practiced and masks must be worn.

Sewer Panel Sets Oct. 20 Meeting

MAYVILLE — The North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 2 Academy St., Mayville. The meeting will be open to the public, and those attending must wear a face mask and be socially distant.

Library Board To Hold Virtual Meeting Thurs.

Woman’s Club Sets Discards Sale Friday

WARREN, Pa. The Warren Woman’s Club will hold a Usable Discards Sale from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. Those attending should use the ballroom entrance to the 310 Market St. club. A limited number of people will be allowed in at any time. Masks are required and social distancing will be maintained.
