Cemetery Sets Fall Clean-Up

Lake View Cemetery will begin its fall clean-up the first week of October. Please remove all grave decorations, including solar lights, shepard’s hooks, etc. by Thursday, Oct. 1. Any items left at gravesites will be collected and kept for a short time before being disposed of. Winter and holiday decorations may be placed on graves after Thanksgiving.

Stray Cat With Rabies Found In Westfield

WESTFIELD — The Chautauqua County Department of Health is asking the public’s help in identifying anyone who may have come in direct contact with a stray adult black cat with a small white patch on its chest in the area of Clinton Street, between Portage Road in Franklin Street, in Westfield on or before Sept. 16. The cat was confirmed to have rabies. Anyone who may have come in contact with the cat is asked to call the county Health Department at 753-4772.

Marvin House Offering Takeout Meals Thursday

The Marvin House in Jamestown will be offering takeout meals Thursday. The meals, $17 for members and $20 for non-members, will consist of fresh pear and cottage cheese salad, breaded pork cutlets, mashed sweet potatoes, over-roasted seasonal vegetables and a pumpkin spice cupcake. Dinners will be pre-packaged and ready for pick up between 3-4 p.m. Reservations can be made by sending an email to marvinhouse@netsync.net or calling the Marvin House at 488-6206.

Saturday Event To Be Held

LAKEWOOD — The Chautauqua Mall is partnering with the Chautauqua Safety Village to host Safe Kids Saturday from noon-3 p.m. Highlights of the day include free car seat checks by Lakewood-Busti police technicians, fire truck demonstration by the Lakewood Fire Department, fire safety and mini-car driving fun by the Safety Village and a chicken barbecue by Farmer Browns. Guests should enter off Fairmount Avenue and drive by the former Ruby Tuesday’s location.

Food Pantry To Be Open Sat.

Kennedy — The Kennedy United Methodist Church Food Pantry and Children’s Clothing Closet, 3594 Church St,, Kennedy, will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. The food pantry is open to all residents residing in the Falconer School District. Those attending are asked to use the lower handicap church entrance, wear a face covering and social distance when entering the church.

JCC To Host

Virtual Open House Events

Jamestown Community College will conduct virtual open houses for prospective students on Oct. 17 for its Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses. The Cattaraugus County Campus session begins at 11 a.m. The Jamestown Campus session begins at 1 p.m. Individuals are encouraged to register at sunyjcc.edu/openhouse or by calling 800-388-8557, ext. 1001 before Oct. 16. Besides providing a virtual tour of campus, each session will provide an overview of admission, advisement, transfer, athletics, and financial aid information as well as other student services. The Jamestown event also includes details about on-campus housing. Students will have the opportunity to have their questions answered throughout each session.
