Post Sets Board Meeting Today

The Herman Kent Post will have an executive board meeting today at 6:30 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary will be serving chicken and biscuit dinners from 5-6:30 p.m. Dinners are $7 each and includes dessert. The public is welcome to attend.

BPU Customers Report Scams

Customers with the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities have reported two new recent scams. In the first scam, someone calls to say they are from the Jamestown BPU and offers rebates to the customer. To receive such a rebate, the customer must supply personal and bank information. In the second scam, a caller says they are from the “electric company” in Jamestown and offers 30% off rates. “Neither of these scams are legitimate calls from the BPU and customers are warned not to give personal information over the phone,” the BPU said in a statement. “The BPU would not call and ask for this information. Customers should be aware.”

Bemus Point CSD Meets Wednesday

The Bemus Point School Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday in the STEM room at Maple Grove High School on Dutch Hollow Road. Those attending are asked to use the gym entrance. An executive session will be held at 5:30 p.m., with the special meeting following afterward. The meeting will also be streamed live at ensemble.e2ccb.org/hapi/v1/contents/permalinks/bpcsdmeeting/view. The Bemus Point Central School District complies with gathering limits and social distancing requirements. Facemasks are required upon entrance to the building.

Spaghetti Dinner Will Be Held

The Marco Polo Club will be holding a take-out spaghetti dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Patrons are recommended to call 665-3309 in advance to order. All customers are asked to enter the parking lot for pickup via the Dexter Street entrance and proceed to the doors on the side of the club. Patrons must remain in their vehicles, and masks must be worn when picking up order. Dinners are $10 for adults, and $5 for children.

Boat America Class Via Zoom

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Dunkirk Flotilla 34 will be teaching the new Boat America boating and jet ski class via Zoom. The class meets New York state requirements and costs $20 per person and $40 with the book. Students must be 10 years of age. The class includes four evening sessions held via Zoom on Aug. 11, 13, 18 and 20 from 7-9 p.m. Class is limited to 20 students. Anyone with questions is asked to call (972) 679-9103.

Pomona Grange at Falcon’s Nest

FALCONER — Ross Grange will host the County Pomona Grange next Monday at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer. This is a change from the regularly scheduled meeting of Ross No. 305. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. with snacks provided. All are welcome to attend.

Sewer District To Meet On Aug. 11

The administrative board of the South and Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer Districts will meet by video conference Tuesday, Aug. 11, at noon. Those wishing to attend are asked to call 646-558-8656 with the ID 999 449 0210.
