One New Virus Case Reported In County

A man in his 20s was the lone new COVID-19 case reported Thursday by the Chautauqua County Department of Health. There are now 229 total confirmed cases. The county Health Department said there remains 11 active cases for those who continue to recover under orders from local health officials. In addition, there are 146 county residents under quarantine/isolation. Not all of those being monitored are confirmed to have COVID-19 but have either shown symptoms, are awaiting results or have risk factors. There are also 958 people under domestic traveler quarantine for having arrived to Chautauqua County from a state listed on the New York state travel advisory as well as 209 recoveries, nine deaths and 22,850 negative test results.

Blood Drive Set In Cassadaga

CASSADAGA — The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the Cassadaga Fire Hall, 22 Mill St., Cassadaga. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Museum To Be Open Saturday

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Historical Museum, 20 W. Summit St., will be open to the public Saturday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to noon. Private tours can be scheduled by calling 763-8557.

Offices To Be Closed Aug. 6

STOW — The North Harmony supervisor, town clerk, code enforcement officer and bookkeeper offices will be closed on Thursday, Aug. 6. Offices will re-open on Friday, Aug. 7.

Ashville Free Library To Host Book Sale

ASHVILLE — The Ashville Free Library will host a book sale Aug 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hardcovers will cost $1 and paperbacks 50 cents. There will be a $5 bag Sale on Saturday. Face coverings and social distancing will be required. The library is located at 2200 N. Maple St. in Ashville. For more information, call 763-9906.
