Busti Gazebo Concerts Nixed

BUSTI — The Busti Gazebo Concerts have been canceled for the month of July due to the COVID-19 virus. “We regret that due to the guidelines needed to follow at this time, concerts for the month of August are temporarily canceled at this time also,” the Busti Hamlet Development Association announced.

County Bridge 959 Is Closed

CHARLOTTE — County Bridge 959 on Hall Road in Charlotte between Hooker Road and Park Street will be temporarily closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

Rev. Jennings To Speak Today

CHAUTAUQUA — Today’s featured lectures for Chautauqua Institution’s Week Two Interfaith Lecture theme, “Forces that Shape Our Daily Lives: The Contemporary Search for Spirituality,” is the Rev. Willie James Jennings, who teaches in the areas of theology, black church and Africana studies at Yale Divinity School. Jennings is the author of The Christian Imagination: Theology and the Origins of Race, which is now a standard text read in colleges, seminaries, and universities. He is currently working on a book focused on the doctrine of creation, tentatively titled Reframing the World. To view the lecture, visit assembly.chq.org. Assembly online began with a beta test version launched on June 22, with the testing phase continuing through Aug. 31, allowing guests to sign up for a 90-day free trial at chq.org/2020-assembly. Leonard To Give Lecture Today

CHAUTAUQUA — Today’s featured lectures for Chautauqua Institution’s Week Two theme, “Forces Unseen: What Shapes Our Daily Lives,” is Franklin Leonard, who details his work as founder and CEO of The Black List, a well-known force in Hollywood for finding the best unproduced screenplays by writers of color and getting those films made. The annual lists have included such Oscar-winning films as “Juno,” “The King’s Speech” and “Argo.” Leonard will also discuss his views on the future of the film industry in light of COVID-19.

School Board To Meet Thursday

FREWSBURG — The Frewsburg Central School District Board of Education will conduct a live and in-person meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library. The purpose of this meeting is to conduct business. Lohr To Present Lecture Today

CHAUTAUQUA — Today’s featured lectures for Chautauqua Institution’s Week Two Interfaith Lecture theme, “Forces that Shape Our Daily Lives: The Contemporary Search for Spirituality,” is Hartford Seminary President Joel N. Lohr, who presents his research and scholarship, based in his experience as a passionate leader in interreligious relations and higher education. Lohr’s teaching and research has focused on the Bible, specifically the Torah/Pentateuch, as well as Jewish-Christian relations and dialogue, interreligious dialogue, and intercultural competence, diversity and leadership in higher education.
