Two New Cases Of Coronavirus Reported

Two new coronavirus cases were announced by the Chautauqua County Health Department on Wednesday. The new cases involve females in their 30s. There are now seven active cases. In addition, 82 cases under quarantine/isolation orders by the Public Health Director and being monitored. One person is reported hospitalized and 98 have recovered. There have been seven deaths, 112 total confirmed cases and 11,292 negative test results.

Outdoor Club Set To Hike Or Bike Sunday

Members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes or hike Sunday from the Kinzua Bridge to Mt. Jewett. Members will meet at the Kinzua Bridge parking lot at 2 p.m. Earl Ross is the leader and can be reached at (814) 706-1198.

School Board To Meet Monday

The Bemus Point School Board will hold a special meeting Monday at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be streamed live.

STOP-DWI Crackdown Shows Results

A Memorial Day STOP-DWI enforcement crackdown resulted in 49 vehicle stops, arrests and summonses in Chautauqua County. Local police agencies took part in the annual initiative, taking place this year from May 22 to May 26. The event is funded by a 2019-2020 grant from the governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, and is part of a national crackdown effort. “Removing intoxicated drivers from Chautauqua County roadways is one of our top priorities,” said Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone. “If you choose to drink, don’t drive. Drunk drivers not only put themselves in danger, they threaten everyone who shares the road with them.”

Falconer Youth Rec Program Canceled

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and requirements, the village of Falconer announced it has had to cancel the 2020 Falconer Park Summer Youth Rec Program. The park remains open for social distancing activities; however, the gates and restrooms will remained closed until further notice.

County IDA Board Meeting Set Tues.

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency board will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday via livestream on YouTube. To view the meeting, visit YouTube and search for County of Chautauqua IDA. Once on the webpage, viewers can click on “videos” to watch the live stream. Minutes of the Board Meeting will transcribed and posted on the agency’s website once approved by the board. The agenda will be posted to ccida.com under News and Agenda prior to the start of the meeting.

County Parks Commission To Meet June 25

The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will meet Thursday, June 25, at 4 p.m. The meeting will be held by Zoom and can be viewed by the public by live-stream on the Chautauqua County Facebook page.
