Historical Society To Meet Saturday

RED HOUSE — The Allegany State Park Historical Society invites the public to its monthly meeting on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Classroom Building at Camp Allegany, located just past Red House Lake off ASP Route 2. This month’s guest speaker is Rick Rupprecht who will give a full presentation on the lifestyles, nesting and history of bald eagles. Rupprecht grew up hunting and fishing in north-central Pennsylvania and now lives in Ashville. He is a former mathematics teacher at Jamestown Community College. Rupprecht serves on the board of directors and is treasurer for the Jamestown Skeet Club, the Lucile M Wright Air Museum, and AMBUCS, which is a group that provides adaptive tricycles to people with disabilities. He also volunteers at his church and enjoys skeet shooting. In 2018, he was presented the Volunteer Leader of the Year Award by the Chautauqua Leadership Network in recognition of his volunteer work.

Outdoor Club To Hike And Ski

The Allegheny Outdoor Club will be skiing and hiking at Allegheny State Park on Sunday. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the warming hut at the summit at 1:30 p.m. Dennis Anderson is the leader and can be reached at 969-9772.

Board Of Public Utilities To Meet

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Board will meet Thursday, Feb. 20, at 4:15 p.m. in the board room of the BPU Operations Center, 92 Steele St., Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Referee Course To Be Held

There will be a USSF entry level soccer referee course held Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Frewsburg SC Training Center, 31 Hughes Ave., Jamestown. With the certification, new referees will be able to officiate nearly any level in any league available in the Southern Tier. The course consists of five hours of online training, followed by eight hours of classroom/field training. The cost is $75 for the class and includes state and national dues. The class is for anyone at least 13 years old at the time of registration. It’s a hands-on class which provides an insightful way to look at the game. Pre-registration is required. County IDA To Meet Feb. 25

DUNKIRK — The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency will meet Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. at the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Afterward, the Chautauqua County Capital Resource Corporation Board of Directors will meet. The public is welcome to attend.

Class Of 1955 Reunion Set

The Jamestown High School Class of 1955 will hold its 55th reunion Saturday, Aug. 1, at 5:30 p.m. at Jamestown Brewing Company 119 W. Third St., Jamestown. More details will be sent out in mid-March to make reservations.

Grange To Host Pancake Brunch

SOUTH DAYTON — Villenova Grange will host an all-you-can-eat pancake brunch on Sunday, March 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Balcolm Corners on Route s 83 and 322 in South Dayton.
