Mobile Pantry Will Not Be At Ashville UM In December

ASHVILLE — Because of the Christmas holiday there will not be a Food Bank of Western New York Mobile Pantry Truck from Buffalo in December at the Ashville United Methodist Church. The next truck will be Tuesday, Jan. 28. Open hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m. The truck brings fresh produce and some staple items. To receive free food, proof of address from the following ZIP codes is required: Ashville 14710, Bemus Point 14712, Celoron 14720, Lakewood 14750, Niobe 14758, Panama 14767, Stow 14785 and anyone who lives in the town of Busti. Alzheimer’s Care, Support Program Session Set Jan. 8

WESTFIELD — A community social program, or respite, is available every month at Westfield United Methodist Church, 101 E. Main St., Westfield, through the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York. The program provides relief to those who care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia and offers them some time to refresh and re-charge while their loved one is engaged in social activities in a safe environment. Candlelight Christmas Eve Service Tuesday

WESTFIELD — A community wide candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 11 p.m. Tuesday at Eason Hall, 23 Elm St., Westfield. The public is welcome to attend. The service will include Scripture, song, dance and handbells. Featuring Westfield area youth and adults, the service is directed and organized by Kent and Nannette Knappenberger. In past years, the more than 40 youth and adult member choir participants have represented a large number of different churches. The offerings from the evening’s service will go to the Westfield Ministerial Association and will benefit the community.

Understanding Alzheimer’s Event Set Jan. 30

SILVER CREEK — The Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter will host Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Anderson-Lee Library, 43 Main St., Silver Creek. “This program provides an overview of the similarities and differences among various types of dementia and what local resources are available for those living with a diagnosis and their care partners,” said WNY Chapter Program Director Rachel Rotach. “We are delighted to be able to offer these programs free of charge to anyone interested in learning more about us and the disease.” Pre-registration is encouraged by calling the chapter office at 626-0600, ext. 313, during traditional business hours or 800-272-3900 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
