Sheriff’s Office Issues Warning Of Phone Scam

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning Wednesday regarding recent phone scams. In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office said: “The person is claiming to be a representative of the Social Security Bureau. They are requesting that you provide the last four digits of your Social Security number and send money to them to clear up an alleged warrant for your arrest. The caller gave detailed information such as a badge number, case number and a warrant number claiming that the warrant is from the state of Texas. Do not release any personal information over the phone. If such a call is received, residents are encouraged to call their local police agency.”

Streets To Close For Holiday Event

The following streets will be closed in Jamestown on Friday from 3-9 p.m. for the city’s annual Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration: Third Street between Hallock Street and Foote Avenue; Porter Avenue between Third and Front streets; Spring Street between Second and Third streets; and Front Street between Hall Avenue and Sprague Street.

Hot Chocolate To Be Offered During Parade Friday

Century 21 Turner Broker Agents along with Eventz by Scott will be offering free hot chocolate during the Jamestown Holiday Parade on Friday. Members will be inside the lobby of the building located on the corner of Third and Pine streets in addition to ringing the bell for The Salvation Army at that location during the parade.

Historical Society Event Set Sunday

The Leon Historical Society will hold its 23rd “Old Fashion Christmas” on Sunday at 2 p.m. The event will take place at the historical church located at the four corners on Route 62 in Leon. Punch and cookies will be served.

School Board To Meet Monday

The Bemus Point School Board will meet Monday beginning with an executive session at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Maple Grove Middle-High School cafeteria on Dutch Hollow Road. The public is welcome to attend.

JHS Vespers Set For Sunday

The Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir will hold its 95th Annual A Cappella Vespers Sunday, and Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church. There is no admission and a free-will offering will be taken. The Dec. 15 performance will include A Cappella alumni with over 150 alumni scheduled to participate. Children’s Book Sale Event Set

LAKEWOOD — As part of the Christmas in the Village celebration on Saturday, Dec. 14, the Lakewood Memorial Library is hosting a children’s book sale. Hundreds of gently used books will be sold 50 cents each or three for $1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library, 12 W. Summit St., Lakewood. A bag sale, $1 per bag, will be held from 2 to 3 p.m.
