Biologist To Talk At Gathering

RANDOLPH — Jim Markham, senior aquatic biologist, New York state DEC, Erie Unit, will speak at the Red House Chapter of Trout Unlimited meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Randolph VFW, Route 252, East Randolph. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

Board To Hold Special Meeting

FREWSBURG — The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the middle-high school multi-purpose room. The purpose of the meeting is to propose an executive session of the Audit Committee to receive and review the draft annual audit report and accompanying draft management letter. The regular meeting will open 6:45 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

City Library To Host Storytime

Prendergast Library will host a Halloween storytime Thursday, Oct. 24, at 4:30 p.m. The free event will include Halloween-themed stories followed by a costume parade around the library. Every child attending will also get a free book. Kids and adults are encouraged to wear a costume. The library’s Makerspace will also be open during the event, with options for free play and Halloween-themed crafts. Register by calling 484-7135 at ext. 234. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Area Car Club To Meet At War Vets

The Antique Car Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the War Vets on Fluvanna Avenue. New members are welcome with or without an antique car. For more information on the antique car club, call 287-3754.

Fenton To Hold ‘Monster Mash’

The Fenton History Center will hold its second annual “Historic Monster Mash: Grimm Brothers’ Fairy Tales Come to Life” on Saturday, Oct, 26. The organization will host guided tour of its 154-year-old mansion decorated for halloween and lit by candlelight. It will include costumed actors portraying characters from Snow White, Rumplestiltskin, Hansel & Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood. Those attending will learn about the history of Halloween, the legend of the Jack-O-Lantern and the ritual of trick-or-treating. The Grimm fairytales were first published in 1812, and provide for lots of historic Halloween fun. This is a family friendly event.

Group To Offer Tai Chi Class

Chautauqua Opportunities Alzheimer’s Services is presenting Tai Chi for Caregivers from 12:15-1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at COI’s Laughlin Building, 402 Chandler St., Jamestown. Tai Chi is a gentle movement exercise that originated in China and is now practiced worldwide. In Tai Chi, one works slowly and smoothly through a system of movements that are meant to connect the mind and body. Benefits include greater strength, improved flexibility, improved balance and coordination, less stress and anxiety, better concentration and memory and improved posture. The class is open to all caregivers. Free respite care is available if needed. For more information, call 366-3335, ext. 1236 or 661-9430, ext. 1236. Lunch will be provided.
