Historical Society To Host Program

BLOCKVILLE — The Harmony Historical Society will host Michelle Henry, Chautauqua County historian and records management coordinator, on Tuesday. She will discuss records held in the Chautauqua County Archives relating to the Commissioners of Navigation for Chautauqua Lake. The commissioners were responsible for creating and enforcing rules of navigation for steam, and later, gasoline vessels. They also inspected vessels, including the Bemus Point-Stow Ferry, and issued licenses to captains, engineers, and pilots. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass and table service. The program starts at 7 p.m. All programs are open to the public.

Food Pantry Open Tuesday

KENNEDY — The Kennedy First United Methodist Church Food Pantry and Children’s Clothing Closet, serving Falconer School District residents, is open Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The pantry strives to provide each family with two or three days of food, but is limited to type depending on the food donations that have been received. The pantry is stocked through individual and group food and monetary donations. The clothing closet provides children’s clothing birth through teen sizes. For more information, contact the church office at 267-2645. The church is located at the corner of Church and Second streets in Kennedy across from the town hall and post office and is handicapped accessible through the lower side door.

Panama BOE To Meet Tuesday

PANAMA — The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.

Humane Society To Hold Clinics

The Chautauqua County Humane Society will be holding the final two low cost Healthy Pet Clinics of 2019 this month. The next clinic will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Pet Pantry in Dunkirk, and the final clinic will be held from noon-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown. Veterinarians that would like to help at future clinics to please contact her at the shelter at 665-2209 ext. 212, or email her at sbobek@chqhumane.org. Participants should come prepared with dogs properly leashed and cats in carriers. Cash and credit cards will be accepted. Please bring any previous rabies vaccination certificates and any veterinarian records from the past year, if available. A small co-pay will be requested for the basic services, although receiving care is not based on one’s ability to pay. Other services, including heartworm, Lyme disease, and feline leukemia testing will be available at a low cost.

Bethel To Hold Craft Fair Nov. 2

Bethel Baptist Christian Academy will be hosting its annual holiday Craft Fair on Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature over 50 local vendors, a concession lunch and bake sale. Admission is $3 for guests over the age of 12. Proceeds from the event will benefit the student scholarship program. For more details, call 484-7420.

Library Board To Meet Thursday

The James Prendergast Library Board of Trustees will meet Thursday at 5:15 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
