‘Ask Us’ To Take Place Today

“Ask Us” will take place today from 6-7 p.m. at Dow Park, located across Sixth Street from the James Prendergast Library. All elected officials and candidates from all parties from the state, county and city have been invited to give the community an opportunity to ask questions, face-to-face with representatives and candidates.

BPU To Work On Pump Station

Beginning today at 7 a.m., traffic on Hopkins Avenue in Jamestown will be limited to one lane for most of the day while Jamestown Board of Public Utilities employees work on a sewer pump station. “The BPU advises motorists to avoid delays by taking alternate routes on Tuesday,” the BPU said.

Town Board Sets Special Meeting

The North Harmony Town Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. today in the town building. The public is welcome to attend.

Thrift Shop Open Wednesday

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, announces that starting Wednesday, all departments will be stocked with fall merchandise. Regular fall sales and receiving hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Receiving is only Tuesday 9 a.m. to noon. Off street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street.

JPS To Hold Meeting Today

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. today in the board room, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Art After 5 To Be Held Wednesday

The Roger Tory Peterson Institute will host Art After 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. There will be live music on RTPI’s patio by Rebecca McIlvain, appetizers, beer, wine and brief tours of the summer exhibition, “Ned Smith: The Man and the Illustrator.” The cost is a $10 donation. IRR Will Hold Meeting Friday

The Independent Railroaders will hold its first meeting of its 2019-20 season on Friday at Conduit Ministries, 120 Delaware Ave., Jamestown. The event will take place at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. For this month, the IRR will host a slide show by guest speaker Irme Quastler, a former professor of transportation at San Diego State University in California and an accomplished photographer of railroads and other transportation infrastructures. In addition, the club will discuss the program schedule for the season. Members are encouraged to bring their ideas. Membership dues of $15 for the year will also be collected. Health Board Meets Thursday

The Chautauqua County Board of Health will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Hall R. Clothier Building’s fourth floor conference room. For more information, call 753-4590.
