Culvert Work Begins Tuesday

LAKEWOOD — The village has announced that beginning Tuesday, Erie Street between Walnut Street and Gifford Avenue will be closed to traffic due to a planned stormwater culvert project.

Olson Will Hold Meet And Greet

Grant Olson, Republican candidate for Jamestown City Council in Ward 5, will host a meet and greet and neighborhood improvement project starting at 10 a.m. Saturday helping neighbors paint their house at 27 Burtch St. Volunteers are welcome to participate. Food will be provided around noon. Everydays True Value has donated paint for the project. For more information, call 499-9940.

Outreach Center Needs Clothes

The Community Outreach Center Thrift Store is in need of gently used clothing and household goods. All proceeds from the sale of these goods benefit local charities. The thrift store is located on the third floor of the First Lutheran Church, corner of Chandler and Center streets. Store hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Senior Council Sets Casino Trip

The United Senior Council will be hosting a trip to Seneca Niagara Falls Casino on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The cost is $35 per person, and includes transportation, a free buffet and $30 in slots. County IDA To Meet Tuesday

DUNKIRK — The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency Board of Directors will meet Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at the Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk.

Meet Candidates Event Is Sept. 26

The Jamestown Renaissance Corp., in partnership with the Robert H. Jackson Center and Jamestown Young Professionals, will host a meet the mayoral candidates event Thursday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Robert H. Jackson Center. This event is open to the public and will feature Jamestown’s three candidates for mayor: Eddie Sundquist, Dave Wilfong and Andy Liuzzo. Each candidate will receive 15 minutes to discuss their candidacy and agenda, followed by a question and answer session. This forum will be moderated by JRC executive director Peter Miraglia. Due to construction at the Robert H. Jackson Center, those attending are asked to enter the center from Fifth Street and leave spaces closest to the venue available for handicapped patrons.

Tea Party To Hear Speakers

LAKEWOOD — The Southern Tier Tea Party Patriots will meet Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Lakewood American Legion. Greg Rater, owner and operator of Slab City Organics, and Deann Nelson will present a power point, “Search For Justice.”

Library Board Meets In Busti

BUSTI — The Hazeltine Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m. The meet will be at the library, 891 Busti Sugargrove Road, and is open to the public.
