Spaghetti Dinner To Be Held

The Marco Polo Club, 1027 E. Second St., Jamestown, will host a spaghetti dinner Saturday from 4-7 p.m. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children. The public is welcome to attend.

Citizens Group Meets In Library

CASSADAGA — The Citizens for a Better Cassadaga will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Cassadaga Library. The group will evaluate the Labor Day Festival and begin work on holiday plans. All area residents are welcome to attend.

Grange Sets Rummage Sale

SOUTH DAYTON — Villenova Grange will hold a rummage sale Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 431 Route 322 South Dayton. Donations are welcome. Call 965-4292 and leave a message. Villenova Grange will also hold an all you can eat pancake brunch Sunday, Oct. 6, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 431 Route 8, South Dayton. The cost is $7 for a small meal or $8 for a large.

Ellery Seniors Hold Barbecue

Ellery Senior Citizens met recently at St. Timothy Lutheran Church for its annual chicken barbecue with BettyLou Cheney giving the blessing. Serving on the kitchen committee were Marty Hunt and Elaine Crossley. Rita Garretson led the flag salute to open the business meeting led by Crossley. Poems and historical facts about the month of August, (four presidents had birthdays, Social Security Act signed, women gained the right to vote and Smokey Bear turned 75) were shared by Gene Norris. Mary O’Boyle and Fran Bishop celebrated birthdays. The next meeting will be Friday at noon at the church. Members should bring a dish to pass and an antique item to share. The Kitchen Committee will be Bob and Rita Garretson. The upcoming trip to Lockport Locks on Sept. 19 will be finalized.

Blood Drive Is Slated In Gerry

GERRY — The Community Blood Bank is partnering with Partners in Kind of Chautauqua County and the V-Dub Club to be a part of the third annual Reid Jones Memorial Cruise-In. This is the first year the Community Blood Bank is holding a blood drive at the event, which will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gerry Rodeo Grounds, 4351 Route 60, Gerry. All proceeds from the Reid Jones Memorial Cruise-In will benefit Partners in Kind of Chautauqua County. All units collected from the blood drive stay in the local community. “We decided to do a blood drive this year to bring us closer to Reid and honor his memory by saving lives,” said Leah Marsala-Chase, member of the Reid Memorial Planning Team and board member for Partners in Kind.

Church To Hold Basket Giveaway

LAKEWOOD — Sacred Heart Parish in Lakewood will be having its annual Cash Club drawing and basket giveaway at 7 p.m. Saturday in the church hall at 380 E. Fairmount Ave., next to Walmart. There are 19 cash prizes, including a first prize of $1,000. Tickets are available for a donation of $10 each and can be purchased at the door on the night of the party. In addition to the ticket drawings,food and beverages will be provided and the giveaway of over 40 baskets will be held.
