Pre-Licensing Course Is Sept. 9

FREWSBURG — A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday, Sept. 9, from 5-10 p.m. The cost is $25. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. When calling, please make sure to have a permit on hand.

New Locations Set For JPS Tax Bill Collection

The Jamestown Public Schools District has a new payment locations and a new mailing address to pay Jamestown Public Schools tax bills. The Jamestown City Hall and Jamestown Board of Public Utilities are no longer payment location options. To pay in person, go to Community Bank, 25 S. Main St. Jamestown, or 1281 N. Main St Jamestown, during lobby hours. Mailed in payments should be sent to: Jamestown City School District, Department 1010, P.O. Box 986500, Boston, MA 02298-6500.

Safe Driver Class Scheduled

AARP is announcing two safe driver classes for September. Class fees for AARP members are $20 and for non-members are $25. Participants should bring a pen, driver’s license, and AARP card to class. Class details include Sept. 16 and 17 from 1-4 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge in Fredonia. To register, call 679-4530; and Sept. 23 and 25 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Fellowship Church located at 148 West Main Road in Brocton. To register, call 792 9418. This class is being sponsored by the Ahira Hall Library as there will be no classes held at the library this fall.

Talk On Jupiter To Be Held

FREWSBURG — For the month of September, the Martz-Kohl Observatory will be celebrating the planet Jupiter. On Wednesday, Sept., 4, at 7:30 p.m., the public is invited to the observatory, 176 Robbin Hill Road, Frewsburg, for a short discussion on Jupiter. After the discussion, all will have an opportunity to tour the observatory as well as view Jupiter and other celestial objects in the night sky, weather permitting. Jupiter has been highly visible through the 20-inch Kohl telescope. When planning a visit to the observatory, it is best to have seasonal attire on hand as the domes which house the telescopes, as well as the roll off roof area of the observatory, are not heated.

Caregiver Series Set For Sept.

MAYVILLE — Chautauqua Opportunities Alzheimer’s Services is having a caregiver series of workshops in September at the Mayville Library, 92 S. Erie St., Mayville. “The Savvy Caregiver,” is a series of classes free of charge to educate the caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia. Sessions will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5, Sept. 12 and Sept. 19. Historical Society To Meet Sept. 16

CLYMER — On Monday, Sept. 16, the Clymer Area Historical Society is holding its annual meeting and a program on family farms in the Clymer area. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. at the museum at 358 Clymer-Corry Road, Clymer.
