‘I Am Free’ Event Set For Tomorrow

SINCLAIRVILLE — On Sunday, from noon to 3 p.m. Park United Methodist Church will hold its annual “I Am Free” event. Children who live in the Cassadaga Valley community will be given free school supplies, clothing vouchers and free haircuts. The Sheriff’s Department will be on hand to provide car seat inspections. There will be free food, classic cars and a dunk tank. There will also be an outdoor church service starting at 10:30 a.m. Both events take place in Minckler Commons, Sinclairville. Rails To Trails Board Meeting

The Chautauqua Rails to Trails Board of Directors will hold its annual meeting Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Vikings Lake Park west of Bemus Point. One of the many agenda items will be voting on the proposed slate of officers: Jim Fincher, president; Bree Agett, vice president; Elsa Nelson, treasurer; and Wendy Lewellenm, secretary. As always, when CR2T meets the first Monday of the month, the meetings are open to the public. Non-members of the Vikings who would like to attend the annual meeting should contact Fincher at 665-3246.

Youth Swim Lessons Offered

The Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls of Jamestown will be starting a new session of youth swim lessons. The new session begins Sept. 10 and runs through Nov. 2. The Club uses the Red Cross system of progressive instruction for beginning to advanced swimmers with placement in classes that encourage and support each child’s efforts and abilities. The classes are for ages 5 and up. The swim lesson registration fee is $30 per participant. Club membership is also required and available for $20 for one full year of membership. Swim lessons are scheduled in 45 minute sessions.

¯ Level 1-2 Classes are offered Tuesday at 5:30, Wednesday at 4:45, Thursday at 4, Friday at 4:45 and Saturday at 10:30;

¯ Level 3-4 Classes are offered Tuesday at 4:45; Wednesday at 4, Thursday at 4:45, Fridays at 5:30 and Saturday at 9:45;

¯ Level 5-6 Classes are offered: Thursday at 5:30; and Saturday at 11:15.

Full payment must be made on the first day of attendance. Anyone needing additional information about swim lessons or a possible partial scholarship for either the membership or swim session should call 664-2902.

Workshops To Be Held This Fall

The Hall House Research Center is offering three workshops this fall from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays. On Sept. 7, Andrew Kolstee will lead a workshop titled, “Using Newspapers For Research.” Kolstee will lead “Trick To Using Old Fulton Postcards” on Sept. 28 while Norman Carlson will lead “Resources at the Hall House Research Library” on Oct. 19. The cost is $10 for Fenton History Center members and $20 for the public.

Free Flue Shots At Library Sunday

The Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry St., Jamestown, is working with Rite Aid Pharmacies to free flu shots at the library.

There is no charge to get a flu shot, which will be available at the library on Sept. 25 from 3-5 p.m.
