School Supply Drive Ends Sun.

KENNEDY — The Kennedy United Methodist Church’s school supply drive for Temple Elementary School students ends Sunday. Items being collected are the following: EXPO dry erase markers, Crayola crayons, Fiskar’s blunt tip scissors, pencil box or pouches, Elmer’s glue sticks and Play-doh. Those who want to donate can call the church office at 267-2645 or leave the items at the church’s lower front door. Financial donations can be sent to PO Box 115, Kennedy, NY 14747.

Cause Of Fire Undetermined

The cause of a fire that heavily damaged a Jamestown home last week has been ruled undetermined, Battalion Chief Chris Dahlgren said Tuesday. The blaze at 618 Pine St. was reported at 6:20 a.m. A woman who lived at the property, which was demolished due to safety concerns, escaped uninjured. Dahlgren said the property had no working smoke detectors.

School Board To Meet Monday

The Bemus Point School Board will hold a special meeting Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the STEM room at Maple Grove High School to adopting corrected tax rates. The public is welcome to attend.

Community Craft Time Set Tuesday

KENNEDY — Community Craft Time at Kennedy First United Methodist Church will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon upstairs in the adult Sunday school room. Those attending can working on their own project or on a group project. The group project uses fabric yo-yos to make either a fabric bell or tree ornament depending on the fabric selected. All materials are provided. Craft time is open to all adults. For more information, call the church office at 267-2645. The church is located at the corner of Church and Second streets, Kennedy, and is handicapped-accessible through the lower side door.

Observatory Meeting Wed.

The Martz-Kohl Observatory, 176 Robbin Hill Road, Frewsburg, will hold its general meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.followed by an open observatory night at 9:30 p.m. Interested members and guests are welcome to come to the general meeting as input is welcomed and encouraged. At the conclusion of the meeting, all are welcome to tour the observatory and view the night sky through the various available telescopes, weather permitting.

Library Hours Change Sept. 1

FREWSBURG — The Myers Memorial Library in Frewsburg is changing its permanent hours starting Sept. 1. New hours are 1 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 2 to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The library hosts a monthly adult book club, 20/30 book club, children’s story time every Thursday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m., monthly meetings of the Kids’ Illustrator Club, monthly blood pressure screening and has a community room available for meetings.
